Myrrh Brooks began exploring the art of woodcut printmaking as an Ada Comstock Scholar at Smith College. In the fall of 2020, she independently founded Penny Bun Press. Focusing on woodcut illustration for this residency, she has created her first children’s book for publication, “Apples for Georgia,” which includes fifteen individual illustrations.Drawing upon her previous work, she delves deeper into narrative printmaking while highlighting the strengths of this medium. Combining detailed line work with a masterful balance of positive and negative space, she invites the reader to share in a peaceful wintry afternoon.
